Urvashi는 Devas의 왕인 Indra의 궁정에서 유명한 압사라입니다. 전설에 따르면 그녀는 나라야나의 허벅지로 만들어졌습니다. 우루(Uru)는 허벅지를 의미하므로 우르바시(Urvashi)라는 이름이 붙었습니다. 그녀는 Menaka, Ramba 및 Tilottama와 같은 Indra의 궁정에 있는 다른 처녀들의 아름다움에 필적하기 위해 만들어졌습니다.

압사라 우르바시의 이야기

천신의 왕인 인드라는 타고난 성품에 따라 나라나라야나가 자신을 타도하고 하늘을 다스릴 것이라고 생각했다. 그래서 그는 압사라(님프)를 보내어 두 성도를 성욕으로 교란하게 하였다. 압사라를 본 나라야나는 허벅지에 꽃을 꽂고 즉시 인드라가 보낸 님프보다 훨씬 뛰어난 매력을 지닌 관능적인 님프를 뿜어냈습니다. 이 아름다운 님프가 허벅지에서 나왔기 때문에 그녀를 Urvashi라고 불렀습니다.

Urvashi is a celebrated apsara in the court of Indra, the king of Devas. Legend has it that she was created from thigh of Narayana. Uru means thigh and hence the name Urvashi. She was created to rival the beauty of other damsels in Indra’s court like Menaka, Rambha and Tilottama.

Story of Apsara Urvashi


Indra, the king of the Devas, according to his innate character thought that Nara Narayana wanted to overthrow him and rule over the heaven. So he sent Apsaras (nymphs) to disturb the two saints with sexual passion. Seeing the Apsaras, Narayana placed a flower in his thigh and immediately sprung from it a voluptuous nymph whose charms far excelled those nymphs sent by Indra. Since this beautiful nymph came out of the thigh she was called Urvashi.

Due to a curse, Urvashi had to live on earth and here she married King Pururavas. (you can read the story here)
